“Why do you need my contributions? Healthcare receives tremendous government funding.”

UNC Health Blue Ridge is a non-profit organization. Due to the high cost of maintaining healthcare facilities coupled with the increased cost of healthcare and pressure from decreased reimbursement, the foundation is a means of helping patients to ensure their quality of care remains high and their experience with us is superior.

Healthcare is paid for mainly by patients and their insurance companies. Although federal programs pay some medical bills, they typically do not cover the full cost of care. Philanthropy enhances existing programs and creates new programs and services that would not otherwise exist because of financial constraints.

When you give, your gift enhances the care provided to patients. At some point, each of us will be impacted by a healthcare facility. Our hope is you, your family member, and your friends choose UNC Health Blue Ridge for your care. At that point, your gift – your gift of hope - could be the gift that enhances the care you or your loved one receives. Most importantly, your gift will impact a patient somewhere in this community. What a difference that makes.

“Will you use my money to sponsor things in the community?”
